"Jan Vermeer" Art Chest

Our Art Chests are eagerly awaited by collectors around the world. For the 2025 edition, we chose one of the most renowned Dutch Baroque painters: Jan Vermeer van Delft (1632–1675). The lid features a full reproduction of probably his most famous painting 'Girl with a Pearl Earring', while the sides display details from the artwork.

Jan Vermeer is considered a master of light. He became especially known for his detailed depictions of domestic life. Vermeer masterfully used light, colour, and composition to create works that radiate an almost meditative calm. Among his most famous paintings are 'The Milkmaid' and 'The Art of Painting'. During his lifetime, Vermeer achieved only modest success. After his early death, he was nearly forgotten, and it wasn’t until the 19th century that his work was rediscovered. Today, he is celebrated as one of the most important artists of the Dutch Golden Age.
